Make sure your computer works for you!

Good morning you lovely people and welcome to my Midweek Wednesday blog. Hope your all ok.

Today we are going to cover "Choosing the right computer for you"

We all know that feeling when your laptop or computer finally gives up the ghost that thought process of "Oh my goodness I need a new computer but I don't know what I want as there are so many different ones to choose from".

There's a few things you can do to decide what's the best one for you to go for.

The steps below should help you to decide what your next purchase should be.

Firstly.....

You need to decide what you need do you a Computer, Laptop, Mac Book,

For example ask yourself these questions

  1. Do I use Apple products?

  2. Do I need it to be able to move it around as I sit in different places?

  3. Can I create a a set up in one place/room etc?

  4. Can I work from my phone or tablet?

  5. Do I want a specific place for it?

  6. Do I have equipment that I need connected?

Depending on your answers to the above questions will answer which you'd be better off getting.

With this in mind, Here's the product you should go for with these questions above.

  1. Do I use Apple products? Buy yourself an Mac Book as you can easily synchronise everything together and maybe look at an iPad for those on the move working days. With having all Apple products you can easily have access to all your documents from that one place "The Cloud" so you can easily have a static set up with added extra products for those on the move days and holidays.

  2. Do I need it to be able to move it around as I sit in different places? If your a person that doesn't sit in just one place and moves around the home a lot a Laptop would be your choice going forward.

  3. Can I create a a set up in one place/room etc? If you want a static place and want to create your own Home Office then look at getting a Desktop Computer. This will enable you to have that one spot that is your "Work Space" and you can create it however you need it.

  4. Can I work from my phone or tablet? If you can work from your phone and tablet as well then you can either do a static set up with a Laptop or go for a Desktop Computer as you can generally link your phone to your computer so you can easily switch things between the two for an over go approach to working.

  5. Do I want a specific place for it? Depending on the space you have available. So if you have room for a monitor in that specific place then I'd suggest a Desktop Computer as you can set it up and everything else you need and not have to move it about and keep connecting and disconnecting components that you attached.

  6. Do I have equipment that I need connected? If you have items that have to be connected physically by a cable then I'd definitely look at a Office Space and getting a Desktop Computer as you wont be able to move around with your equipment easily so what a better way than to set up your own Home Office. This can be a space in the place you like to spend most of your time or a view out of a specific window. Where ever you will be happy with working from for hours on end.

Once you've established the above you can then narrow down your search on what you looking for.

Secondly.....

You need to identify what you're using your computer, laptop or Mac Book for?

Are you using it purely for Office and social media?

Are you designing graphics?

Are you just writing books or Colouring books?

Are you a Web Designer?

Are you a gamer?

Are you brand new and just dabbling?

Is it for School Work?

What ever you're using for you need to either make sure you have enough memory and Hard drive space. Or enough graphics to deal with any high end imaging, web design or gaming.

Thirdly.....

Let me show you the type of information you're looking for and the specifications your looking for in your next purchase. Please note Mac Book and Apple products are not recommended for Gaming as they are meant for Business customers.

For my Set up at home I have my big desk, 2 monitors, a gaming desktop, keyboard, mouse, speakers, external hard drive, external DVD drive, printer and then my machines on top of that as well. I've explained this so you can get a rough idea of what I need and work with on a daily basis. I do work from my bedroom at present until I can expand and give myself a whole room for just business. Once I have more space things will look a lot better and give myself a lot space and room to do what I need and encourage me to move further with the items I sell and share.

Whatever you decide to purchase if you follow my advice above you can't go far wrong and you'll soon have a great set up that works for you and allows you expand on what you already have.

If you do have any questions why not connect with me and I can help and advice further if required.

Always remember you're stronger than you believe

Maria
